Here Is a Quick Cure for Custom T-shirt
I love a good T-shirt. And I can’t lie, I’m particular about my T-shirts. But I’ve been noticing that the more often I wear them, the less they smell like fresh laundry. Enter: dryer sheets! They’re one of those things that we take for granted because they’re so cheap and easy to find at the store, but they have some amazing uses beyond just making our clothes smell nice (hint: use them as air fresheners). So, here’s how you can bring new life back into your favourite shirts with this quick DIY tips.
Buy a dryer sheet.
To begin, you’ll need to buy a dryer sheet. If you have no idea what that is, it’s just a piece of paper with a bunch of synthetic fibers on it. It can be found at most stores that sell laundry detergent and fabric softener (or “dryer sheets” as they’re known colloquially).
Don’t buy the cheapest ones in the store or anything above $4 per package you want something affordable but not so cheap that it doesn’t absorb water well enough for this purpose. Avoid scented dryer sheets; they don’t help with static and will ruin your t-shirt printing if left on for too long. Finally, if there are any other additives listed on the packaging besides an acrylic polymer blend (which is what keeps things from sticking together), keep looking until you find one without them!
Cut it in half and use each half twice.
If you’re only going to use the dryer sheet once, then you might as well not use it at all. Use the dryer sheet twice and you will be amazed by how much better your t-shirt looks and feels.
Use the dryer sheet three times and it will be like wearing a new shirt every day, although not really because this one is all worn out now. I mean, it was brand new when I gave it to my friend but he wore it all day long doing yard work and then washed it with some other clothes in his laundry basket, so they became kind of dirty. Then he brought them back home and hung them up on his patio door so they could get more sunshine because sunshine helps sanitize things (I think). Anyway! That’s why I’m telling you this story: because I have proof that using a single dryer sheet three times makes an old t-shirt look new again!
Use the dryer sheet four times and this is where things start to get interesting. You see, when we first started using these disposable sheets on our clothes before washing them, we noticed everything got really soft but even better than that, there weren’t any stains left behind either! It was amazing! We couldn’t believe how great our clothes felt once they’d been washed with these special chemicals inside each package sold at grocery stores around town, however, after four uses there were some issues starting up with discoloration which made certain colours appear greyish instead of vibrant blue or red hues.
Stick the dryer sheet to the inside of your shirt.
The dryer sheet should be placed in the back of the shirt, just above your belt line. To make sure it stays in place, use a small amount of glue or tape to attach it to the inside of the custom t shirt printing so that it is directly against your skin. You can also use a pen cap or safety pin if you don’t have any glue available.
If you want to reuse the same dryer sheet more than once, make sure not to overuse too much glue! After applying extra globs of adhesive where necessary (to secure loose ends), let everything dry completely before continuing with step 2 below.
